Are the beds on Princess really as bad as it sounds like? I have been reading a post on another message board on the other site abotu how uncumfy they are and having to request egg crates? I never thought i would read about people having to request egg crates for the beds. Anyone cruised Carnival? how do the beds compare? Carnvial have very comfortable beds.
We find the beds comfortable, but we like a firm bed. If you like a "sink into" bed you might want the egg crate. I'd say the beds on Carnival are about the same as on Princess.

The beds can be hit and miss
IE the bed for the Panama 2009 was fine on my side bad on DW's
Coastal both sides OK
Alaska DW's fine with egg crate , bad on my side
so it can vary

Just got back from a 9 night on June 5th on Caribbean Princess. Bed was fine! Not great, not bad. I did ask for extra pillows! I am usually so tired when I come back to the cabin that I would sleep standing up in the shower!!!

Most of the Princess ships have hard beds with some being almost like a board. We like them firm but having a crushed mattress almost requires an egg crate just to get by for the trip.
I've NEVER been on any Princess ship where there was a really soft mattress.
We're going back on the Emerald in the fall & I'm really thinking about bringing along my queen size air mattress for the trip although I hate to lug along the extra weight it sure would feel good.
I have found the beds to be perfectly fine on my 2 Princess cruises. Honestly, after a day in the sun or sightseeing, I am so tired, I could sleep on anything!

Hi David,
On our 1st Princess cruise we didn't request a egg crate mattress, and the mattress was fine. On the 2nd Princess cruise we requested a egg crate mattress to see what it was like, and we liked having one. For our next Princess cruise in October I have had my TA request another egg crate mattress. What you could do is request a egg crate mattress to be put on your bed since they are in short supply, and if you don't care for it just remove it.
I also recommend requesting ahead of time a couple of Princess robes for lounging around in your cabin, there are great to have.
My girlfriend and I had 2 twin beds , and thank god i didnt sleep much, because they were horrible ! no sheets, and almost impossible gettinga extra blanket for my friend. there was much to be desired about our cabin stuart also, she gave my friend 2 very small throws. until I had enough and went down to the desk and got her one. Every crew member was top notch. I just got back Monday, I miss all the crew members, because they really want to please, well except our cabin stuart...Marie
I haven't had any problems sleeping on any of my cruises with Princess....the beds have always been comfortable...but then it depends on the type of bed you like to sleep on...soft or hard....
