Shan, you need to choose to be be close to the airport/pier there are a lot of hotels that are about a 10-15 minute cab ride from the airport to the pier. We like to book on or around 17th street. The beach is farther away
The Bahia Mar Hotel, has a skywalk over the road to get you to the beach, directly across the street...We have enjoyed our stays there.
This area, is undergoing a change, wherein, many of the smaller boutique hotels are gone, and replaced with Trump, Sheraton, and the W...very pricey...the Bahia Mar could do the trick for you...
We stayed there last Jan. before our cruise. Had oceanfront rooms high up. When we got up in the morning 'before it was light out' you could see the ships lined up waiting to come in to port. Just added to the excitement. Nice place.
We have booked LaQuinta Inn - Airport for $55 on 11/4/10. they provide transportation from the airport and then to the cruiseport the next day. Complimentary breakfast and wireless internet.

Yes, great hotel the Laquinta inn. If you drive there and stay you can also leave your vehicle there and take their transport to the port. U do have to find your way back to the hotel but cab fare is like $25.00 Saves alot of money over parking at the Port.
