Default How early is too early to book??

We will be booking a SB Alaska Whittier to Vancouver for sure. It will be in the first week of June.
My question is: Is there any disadvantages to booking now for a trip that far off. I called Princess and they said that you get any deals that come along if they go down in price. On our other cruises they always went down.
We know what deck we want and that is my main reason for wanting to book early to make sure we get the cabin we want.
Also my real reason to book early is the feeling I get when I am booked on a cruise. It is a great feeling knowing and planning!!
Thanks
EB

It is never too early! As long as you book with the cruise line or an agent who charges no change or cancellation fee, you have nothing to lose. You get the cabin you want, and if the price drops, you'll get a nice reduction. Or if you're like us, you'll use the price reduction as an excuse to upgrade yourself. Just be sure to keep an eye on the prices, so that you won't miss it. I know there are agents out there who will do this, but I like to keep a watch out myself.

I'm with you...I love to plan ahead!

I can't think of a reason for not booking early especially if they honour any price drops. We like to know what dining seating & which cabin we are in...on some ships anyway.

Do you know if the TA has to tell you or watch for price drops or is it an added service that just some will do.
Also do you know if you get any added things like OBC or upgrages if they offer them after you book and not just the regular price of the cruise.

I think booking early is a great deal, we always book early, and our TA always checks the price, and we have gotten refunds. You also get your cabin early, and there is always upgrades. We like to plan ahead.

Default Booking Early

According to our TA, the one destination you definitely want to book early for is Alaska-just because it's a short sailing season and there's heavy demand.

Default Book it

Get what you want for a deck/cabin now. I booked Alaska a year in advance for a cabin I wanted.

I watch to see if the price goes down, then call Princess (I book through them directly). They have dropped the price for me, no hassle at all.

Alaska is a great trip, enjoy!

Some TAs do, some don't, and some are just too busy. Best to rely on yourself to watch for price reductions.

It's like Christmas in August. 100 degrees here today. This will be our second trip to Alaska and not the last.

The biggest advantage is that you get the cabin and deck you want.

Quite often the good cabins go quickly or get booked by a tour company.

Early booking means you "MIGHT" (not guaranteed) that you will get

a visit from the "Upgrade Fairy".
