Awesome, one of my favorite memories of Alaska. The train actually stops for wildlife.

Thumbs up

A great trip with beautiful scenery. It is long, but worth the time spent.

We started in Fairbanks and ended up in Whittier then cruised to Vancouver. As the previous said "it is a long trip but worth it". My suggestion would be look for a tour that does two days in Denali. It is a marvelous place to visit. You will then rail to Mt McKinley Lodge. This requires about an hours bus ride from the railhead. Chances of seeing the mountain are about 30%. It was fogged in and we did not see it. I am going off the point of your question a bit. The trip via rail is great. Food on the train is good but expensive. Princess is the best when it comes organization. The only thing we did not like was the seating situation on the train. You are seated in a booth with two other people. We got lucky and sat with a lady from Florida and her daughter. We had a lot of laughs. If,as some people encountered, you are not compatable with your tablemates it could be a very long ride. If the train is not full you can easily change seats. Ours was full ! Sorry to be so long winded but if you go you will never forget the beauth of Alaska.
