Here I go again... Since I've decided to stay with anytime dining on the Equinox, we're being charged 11.50 pp per night just to have it...at least that's what my TA says... Does anyone know this to be a fact? I read on one of these posts that if there's a charge it should be something like 2.00 pp per night....
On some cruise lines ( including Celebrity & RCI ) you have to prepay all your
gratuities before boarding , I don't know why but they require it . I usually buy enough
OBC to cover the gratuities and any other planned expenses
SS Ithaca , Volendam , Mariner of the Seas (x2) , Veendam , Coral Princess , Island Princess (x3) , Emerald Princess,Sapphire Sapphire (x3),Diamond Princess
As the above poster said, it may be because any time diners don't build the relationship with the wait staff and the line wants to be sure they don't get stiffed in the gratuities department.
This is a better question for the Celebrity board as Equinox is their ship.
All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; John Masefield
Carnival: Glory 2004, Destiny 2008, Splendor 2009, Freedom 2011, Valor 2012, Dream 2013
Celebrity: Summit 2011
Princess: Ruby 2010, 2014, Caribbean 2013, Coral 2014, Regal 2014, 2016
Sail Windjammer: Mandalay 2017
Star Clippers: Royal Clipper 2015
There will be more answers if you post this question on the Celebrity board. Makes me wonder what would happen if you had to cancel your cruise for some reason. I know that Princess does not pre-charge onboard expenses such as anytime dining. In fact there is no charge except for maybe tips for anytime dining.
Pre paying for any onboard service before your cruise, to me is like a few companies who insist on making your cruise deposit by check and not by credit card. Maybe it's just me, but it just does not sit well.
