Looking at sailing Princess, but my husband doesn't own a suit that is not a military uniform, and usually limits himself to dress shirt/slacks and tie. (We pack super light, and he hates jackets) Will we not be allowed in the dining room on formal nights in this attire? Thanks!
So many cruisers hate to admit that, the tide has turned with "dressy" clothing. I think we can all say that if you are waiting and kitbitizing with people while waiting for the dining room to open, you will see it all, as far as dressing for the MDR, even on formal night. Slacks, shirt & ties, are not uncommon.
Trip, with her book & tea!

You'll get many different opinions about this subject and of course he can wear a jacket & tie if he feels out of place but there will be a number of guys, like myself, who just wear a long sleeve dress shirt and dress pants without lugging a jacket or the dreaded tie & it's been working out fine for the past 10 years. Lately on Princess, I've noticed many guys even wearing a polo shirt on formal nights which seems to be also getting more acceptable.
I'm one retired guy that feels that on vacation I want to relax in comfortable clothing & still take advantage of the better dining room food.
