Onshore excursions...

Hello!

I've booked a few onshore excursions for my upcoming Alaska cruise (from the Princess website) and was wondering what to expect on the day of the excursions. There are no instructions that explain where I should present myself or whom to ask, and they haven't charged me for the reservations yet either. Soo, I'm just curious how all of this works as this is my first cruise. I don't want to screw anything up for my family!

Thanks for your helpful advice in advance!

Hi there, the usual practice is for the excursion tickets to be waiting for your in your stateroom either on arrival, or the evening that the desk close bookings. The cost will be applied to your onboard account at the same time.

With the tickets you will normally receive assembly instructions, again these normally go along the lines of arriving in one of the entertainment lounges on board with all your family/friends/tickets/cameras/carry bags etc etc. You will each be given a sticky badge with the tour number on it & asked to take a seat.
When your coach/boat is ready, your number will be called & you will all leave as a group being escorted down to the vehicle wher you hand in your tickets & sit back for a great day out :o)

Hope that helps, if you have any concerns once on board, simply pop down to the desk when they're quiet & they will happily give you all the details.

Have a great time,

Alan & Katrina

Hi XYZ,
You should get your excursions tickets put in your cabin, hopefully the first day. It will state on them, where to meet and at what time. Many of them just meet on the dock and they will be holding a sign with what excusion they are doing.

Excursions

One of the nice things about booking ship's excursions is that they take very good care of you.

As others have noted, you will usually find your excursion tickets in your cabin when you board. The tickets will specify the meeting place and time, and frequently have other notes like "bring sunscreen" or "wear comfortable shoes."

Then you will pretty much be escorted through the whole thing. Either you will be escorted from the meeting lounge, or you will be met by shore excursion staff as you leave the ship, and they will see that you get to the right place. Having the shore excursion staff to look out for you is very comforting, especially for first time cruisers.

The other nice thing is that in case of any sort of delay, caused by late arrival or weather or whatever, once again the excursion staff is monitoring it. Announcements will be made throughout the ship if it is necessary to change any excursion times.

On most lines, even if you prebook excursions, they are not charged to you until you get on board and then they are put on your shipboard account. You do need to note cancellation procedures and penalties. Most of the time you can cancel without penalty up to a few days before the excursion but this is not a universal rule. Check it out.

I know you will have a GREAT cruise!
