Default Dress on Mariner

I'm headed on the Mariner through the caribbean in a few weeks and was wondering if a sundress was ok in the dining room for the casual dinners. I have a long gown for the formal night, but was also told their would be an informal/cocktail type night. I have to go get a dressier dress for the cocktail night, but just how dressy is cocktail night on the mariner...does it need to be short and sparkly or is a basic short black dress ok ? or is it not cocktaily enough?

Basic black dress or pantsuit is always appropriate. Sundress in perfectly fine for casual. Based on past patterns, a seven day caribbean cruise should have one formal, three informal, and three casual nights.

Dress like when you go to a nice restaurant in your city. That's all you need.
