Tahiti Weather

We are considering a Radison cruise in January, 2005 with 3 other couples. I remember reading on this message board a couple of years ago that there is a definate rainy season to avoid. Will someone tell me when that is? Also, my recollection is that there were some hotels that were better than others for pre and post cruise stays. Any suggestions on those would also be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Tahiti Weather

Their rainy season is Mid-November to mid-March. However, it's not like it's monsoons or anything - it's more like afternoon showers that pass quickly.
In late May, I stayed at Bora Bora Le Meridien pre-cruise, 4- days - it was fantastic! Then did the Radisson. Loved it - so much I'm going again next month!
Do a google search of Tahiti message boards to find more info - there are several.

Webster:

We were on the PG 2/'02 and two weeks in 2/'03. Both times early in the month. Out of these three total weeks, we had "rain outs" for two half-days.

That being said, however, when we were onboard both years, we heard stories from the staff about how much rain had been experienced on sailings just a week or two before.

From our experience (limited to that described above), we would avoid Dec. and Jan. if at all possible. That's the worst of the rainy season, as I understand it.

Thanks,
Richard
