Default Red October Tour - Navigator June 19 Dover to Copenhagen

Greetings! I felt I should clarify a previous posting.
We are looking to share a Red October tour while in St Petersburg on this cruise.

DAY ONE – 7 ½ HOURS
June 25, Sunday
08:00 AM - Ship’s arrival in St. Petersburg
08:30 AM - Departure for Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), drive 25km/15 miles south of St. Petersburg
09:30 AM
09:45 AM


- Arrival in Tsarskoye Selo, official residence of Russian Tsars.
-Visit to the Catherine Palace founded by Peter I for his wife Catherine I and re-built and enlarged for their daughter Empress Elizabeth by Italian architect F.B.Rastrelli; the striking luxury of the interior decoration of the palace was created by the best artists of XVIII and XIX centuries. The most famous Amber Room with the walls paneled with amber was completely lost during the WWII is restored completely (Early admission to the Catherine’s Palace on special arrangement is included in the cost)
11:00 AM - Drive back to St. Petersburg.
00:30 PM - Inside visit to St Isaac's Cathedral (architect Montferrand), one of the finest architectural monuments of the XIX century, the former principal Cathedral of the Russian capital, the largest cathedral in town able to accommodate about 10,000 audience. The cathedral is beautifully decorated inside: marble of 13 colors, malachite, lapis-lazuli, paintings and mosaics made by the most famous Russian artists, impressive stained-glass image of Christ seen through the open doors of the magnificent Icon-Stand etc.
01:15 PM - LUNCH AT A CITY RESTAURANT – EXTRA CHARGE – USD 17- 23 per person. The menus will be available closer to the date of your arrival.
02:30 PM - inside Visit to the Yusupovs’ Palace on Moika river Embankment, one of the 4 palaces Yusupovs had in St. Petersburg. Yusupovs were one of the richest families of Russia in XIX century related by family ties to the Romanovs, for instance, the last owner of this palace Felix Yusupov was married to Irina, niece of Nicholas II. Yusupovs were famous Maecenas and their theater was the most popular of the private theaters in St. Petersburg.
• Gala and living rooms of the palace, beautifully decorated, one can see unique musical instruments there.
• Golden Theater – copy of the Bolshoi of Moscow, the most famous actors, dancers and singers considered an honor to perform on this stage (bass Fiodor Shaliapin, world famous Anna Pavlova and others)
• Visit to the cellar (wax museum) where in December 1916 Felix Yusupov, Grand Duke Dmitry and other monarchists – conspirators murdered Grigory Rasputin, morose and mysterious figure in Russian history.
03:30 PM - Drive back to the pier
04:00 PM - Return to the ship

DAY TWO - 7 ½ HOURS
June 26, Monday

08:30 AM - Start from the pier for the city orientation drive (city highlights):
Nevsky Avenue, the central street of the city, Vassilievsky Island “Strelka? with the most beautiful view of Neva Embankments, Winter Palace and other buildings of the Hermitage Museum and Peter-and-Paul Fortress, Cruiser “Aurora?, Smolny Cathedral, “Bronze Horseman? the most famous monument to Peter I, founder of St. Petersburg, Log Cabin of Peter the Great - first home built in St Petersburg for Russian Tsar by his soldiers in three days as typical Russian izba, Peter-and-Paul Fortress, place where the city was founded etc.
09:30 AM - PHOTO STOP AT the Savior on the Spilled Blood Cathedral built in 1907 as memorial church to honor Russian Emperor Alexander II murdered on the spot by the terrorists.
10:00 AM




- inside Visit to the Russian Art Museum which is housed in the Michael Palace and a purpose – built annex. It was opened in 1898. With over 315 000 exhibits, the Russian Museum now ranks with the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow as the largest collection of Russian art in all its branches.
- The neo-classical Michael Palace was built by Carlo Rossi in 1819-25 for Grand Duke Michael Pavlovich, Alexander I’s Younger brother.
01:00 PM Lunch at city restaurant payable to a restaurant by cash or credit card.

02:15 PM - inside visit of Peter-and-Paul Fortress, place where the city was founded in May of 1703, incl. the Peter-and-Paul Cathedral (1712 1733), burial place of the Romanovs.
03:00 PM - Short stop at Red October office to pay balance for your tour and
Shopping opportunity at the biggest and best souvenir shop of St. Petersburg – Red October ( wooden dolls of various dimensions and quality, authentic lacquer boxes from Palekh, Mstera etc., splendid amber, china, Russian shawls etc.)
03:30 PM - Drive back to the pier
04:00 PM - Return to the ship

08:30 AM - Departure for Peterhof. Drive 30km/19 miles west of St. Petersburg.
09:30 AM - Arrival in Peterhof: “Russian Versailles?, official Summer Residence of Russian Tsars.
09:45 AM - inside Visit to the GRAND PALACE famous by the unbelievable splendor and beauty of its interior decoration (Early admission to the Grand Palace on special arrangement is included in the cost)
10:45 AM
- Stroll through the wonderful “Lower Park? with its 150 fountains, cascades and various pavilions, palaces
11:30 AM - Drive back to St. Petersburg by Hydrofoil (it is included in the cost)
- BOX LUNCHES FROM RED OCTOBER – EXTRA CHARGE – USD 10 per person. The box lunches consist of any fruit, 2 sandwiches, cookies, mineral water.
The box lunches are supposed to be eaten on board the hydrofoil.
00:30 PM - Tour of the Hermitage Arts Museum
• Excursion to the West-European Masters’ collection (Rembrandt, Rubens, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, El Greco, Murillo, Van Dyck etc.)
• Living and gala halls of the Winter Palace,
• French Impressionists and art of XX century.
• No Gold room
03:30 PM - Drive back to the pier
04:00 PM - Return on board
05:00 PM - Ship’s departure
