Christine Duffy Christens Riverboat
by Paul Motter
Duffy, president of the CLIA, becomes a godmother to the AmaWaterways' newest beauty, AmaCerto.
AmaWaterways' newest ship, the AmaCerto, sails into Vilshofen, Germany for the May 16
christening by its godmother, Cruise Line International Association President Christine Duffy.
Christine Duffy, as the president of the Cruise Lines, has not had it easy lately. She was called to testify in two congressional committee hearings on the cruise industry. I did not see the one in the House of Representatives, but I did see the Senate hearing presided by Jay Rockefeller. In fact, I wrote an editorial saying I do not believe she was treated in a very gentlemanly manner.
Well, someone else thought Christine needed a break from the hard work she has been doing; AmaWaterways, and so the line invited her to the scenic Danube town of Vilshofen, Germany, where she performed the traditional ceremony for christening and blessing the line's newest beautiful riverboat, the AmaCerto.
