Explorer of the Seas Experience

Awesome......We just reurned from the best cruise we have taken. The ship, the food and the entertainment were all top notch. Embarkation was as smooth as silk. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It just went by too fast....

Glad to hear you had such a great trip! We're sailing her in April and sailed on the Voyager last April. Were the Cruz Comics on the ship? On board the Voyager they kept everyone in stiches throughout the cruise. How many cruises have you been on? This will be our 11th and the Voyager was hands down our favorite. I'm sure the Explorer will be right up there w/ her. Thanks ....Denise :-)

The cruz comics were in force and you will have a great tme. This was our fifth cruise. We met a couple who had also sailed on Voyager. They said Explorer was more subtle in terms of archectecture and art work, but that the service and food was superior to that on Voyager.

RE: Explorer of the Seas Experience

Glad you enjoyed the cruise. We too, just got off the 11/18 sailing over Thanksgiving. The ship is something to see! Sadly, the size also deminishes the concept of passenger cruise ship -- just too big. The ship is so large that on calm seas (and yes, there was a rough day and rocking ship) you can easily forget that you are on a ship and think that you are inside a Las Vegas resort like the Venetian Hotel. Our one bad comment was Portofino's restaurant -- we had very bad food resulting in intestinal discomfort for two days and poor service. For the money ($20/person) it is not worth the time or taste. We have experienced the wonderful Olympic restaurant on the Milleniuum ($12/person) with fantastic food and service. We even went back a second time. So for those going on Explorer, skip Portofino and enjoy the rest of the ship and spend the $20/person in the casino, at the arcade, or in a port of call.

Planning an Explorer trip in a month, what tips do you have for the shore excursions? Or any other tips? Thanks

I have to disagree. We had an excellant meal at Portofinos. It was the best meal of the cruise. Well worth the money.
