I have a friend who just returned Wednesday from a 10 day Panama Canal on Crown Princess. She had only cruised Carnival, and said she will not cruise Princess ever again. The food was just OK, the entertainment was just fair, and the crowd on board was rude. Also, The Crown Princess did not get to Aruba because of "technical difficulties", instead the went to Nassau. That sounds like they were having trouble with an engine or two, because they didn't have time to get to Aruba and make it back to Florida in time. This is only her opinion about the Crown Princess cruise, but perhaps some others have other suggestions.
I am very surprised, because we've cruised Princess and I had a wonderful time. SHe is not the type of find fault with everything, and she had her own group of people with her, and she has always come off a cruise having praise for the ship and the crew. At lot of the dissatisfaction may have been due to the crowd on board, which she said was very pushy and demanding.
Hi Lois and Rod,
I think you are making a good choice going through the Panama Canal with Royal Caribbean. My fiance and I just got back from a trip on the Grandeur of the Seas 2 weeks ago and everything was superb; the food, service, and boat were all excellent. We met a couple who said they did that cruise and said it was excellent. Needless to say, I just booked the cruise on 10/7/2001 14 night through the canal from San Diego to Miami.
We did a 10 night canal tour on the Vision of the Seas and it was wonderful. The most relaxing cruise to date. Ours was from San Juan with disembarkation in Acapulco. Our tablemates ranged from 25 to 75 year old couples. We found the age group to be very varied for that length of cruise. (I expected much older.) We stayed one night in Acapulco at the Hyatt and dined at Cuyoba 22 on the side of the cliff overlooking the city. It was the best way to end a fabulous cruise. I really like RCI and their ships. Food quality has increased and entertainment is very good. The only tour we went on was in Costa Rica down the Coroboci River on rafts and including a native lunch. I highly recommend that tour. If I can be of more assistance, please email me.
