I havent been on Explorer so cant say for certain, but I've sailed quite a bit on RCI, and I've seen fried chicken, and mashed potates served many times for lunch on the buffet. Cant recall seeing it on a dining room menu though.
You will find the staff in each restaurant will be delighted to assist you with any special orders. The Restaurant Managers visit each table regularly. They are most obliging and will happily try to provide any dishes that guests request.
Chicken is a regular dish on the menu as is some form of potato.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
Well, hate to break it to you, but you won't find any KFC on Carnival either...they have some very quality food, and it is quite comparable to RCI's...sometimes even better. We cruise both these lines very frequently, and have been pleased with the food on each cruise...no one line holds an advantage in food over the other.
In regards to the fried chicken question, it is periodically served up in windjammer for lunch, along with some sort of potato.
I agree with Sean - Carnivals food is as good if not better than RCI. Just got back from the Inspiration and the food was excellent, can't say that about the Voyager last year. No fried chicken on either line, but they all usually serve roast turkey one night.
Fried chicken is available in the Windjammer periodically. Mashed potatoes are available every night in the dining room. Talk to you Head waiter and he/she will usually be able to provide it. Happy Sailing...
