which ship for summer Caribbean cruise

Planning an August Caribbean cruise for family of 4, including 19 year old son and 13 year old daughter. Will take 2 cabins, hopefully adjoining. For background, we've all been on Celebrity's Horizon to Bermuda (1995 - loved it - our favorite cruise) and RCI Grandeur to Eastern Carib. (1999 - good time, ok food, pretty ship). My husband and I have also been on Celebrity's Galaxy to Alaska (good time, but he thinks the food came down a notch since RCI bought Celebrity), NCL Windward to Bermuda (1993 - the food wasn't great and the layout was odd but of course we had a good vacation anyway). So the big question is - WHICH SHIP TO SAIL WITH THIS TIME? The choices are : Grand Princess (but the agent says Princess tries to nickel and dime you everywhere); Voyageur of the Seas - I think my kids would love it, but the food is really important and I'm concerned; or Celebrity Century, which would be my first choice but I'm afraid the ship might be a little worn and there are very few balcony cabins and they are too expensive for me to take 2 of them. Soooo - what recommendations would you guys on the RCI boards have? Thanx for your thoughts.

Easy choice, either Voyager or Explorer of the Seas; personally Explorer has a better itenerary. Hands down Royal Caribbean beats out all other cruise lines. I was on Explorer four weeks ago and will be traveling on Voyager in two weeks, i'll let you know my perference in ships.

I concur... Voyager or Explorer. We went on Voyager last year and are sailing Explorer this April. The food on Voyager was very good. We had absolutely no complaints. Service was good too. I think when there are kids involved, these ships offer sooooo many options for them as well as the adults. The pricing is also better than Celebrity or Princess, Holland America, etc. RCCL is our favorite cruise line. Denise :-)

I agree Voyager is my favorite ship but I have not tried Explorere yet.

Even on the Celebrity boards people are not recommending that we take the Century. How come? We had a great time when the kids were younger, sailing the Horizon to Bermuda. Why not this time? I'm concerned with the huge number of people on the Grand and the Voyager, especially considering the passenger to crew ratio on RCI is more than 3:1. Doesn't that show up anywhere on the Voyager?

By the way, are the promenade inside cabins that overlook the "street" scene noisy? I was thinking that IF we took the Voyager, and IF we couldn't get adjoining cabins, maybe we would take one with a balcony and one across the hall with the inside "window".
