Has anyone been on RCI's Grandeur of The Seas to the Mediterranean Ports of the Greek Islands and Turkey. We're going in August and are wondering about the shore tours. We've cruised Carnival a few times and discovered that taking the tours offered by the ship isn't worth it and the locals (in the Carribean) are more than willing to negotiate a price that is much cheaper than the ship's going rate to basically take you to the same places. I'm just not sure if it's like that in Europe? I'm sort of leary, not speaking the language and all but was wondering what this experience is like over seas. Thanks!
We did the same cruise last July with our then 20 yr. old. We did upgrade our hotel package and really loved the Ceylan Intercontinental in Istanbul. In Istanbul we used the services of a very reputable company. They were first class and the guides were helpful, informative and very flexible. In the first day we were taken to a dinner show for $50 per person. It was something we enjoyed so much (a feast for the eyes, ears and senses). The next day we took a half day tour which should not be missed! The following day we took a Bosphorus cruise tour. Could not have been more pleased from the services. They took us to many spots and treated us like treasured friends. We highly recommend them to everyone (really reasonable).
Istanbul was so interesting! See as much as you can!
