Default dress code

We are booked on the Explore and have never cruised before. I was wondering how formal the dress is and what the women wear on the casual nights. I do not want to spend a fortune on clothes for the cruise. How dressy does the dress have to be for the formal. I also have 2 children ages 10 and 13. Does my son have to wear a suit also for the formal night.Any help is appreciated. thanks

Lisa..
U certainly dont have to run out and spend big $ on clothing. Anything nice will do. Cocktail dresses etc are fine.
The kids certainly don't need to be in suits if they dont own them. Nice slacks, and a shirt will do fine. If they have a tie.. so much the better, but not at all a worry.
Regards,
Kuki

Hi Lisa,
Was on Explorer a few weeks ago and yes, people dress formal on the 2 formal nights, a nice cocktail dress will be fine. As for the casual nights, you can wear a nice pair of slacks/blouse, sun dress, or casual dress, men can wear dockers with polo type shirts. I think there was also one smart/casual where you needed a nice dress and the men wear sports coats.

We had a wonderful time on Explorer, bet you and your family will too. I did write a review if you want to read through it, have fun:
