I have question, we are sailing Nordic Empress, sailing Sunday, September 2, 2001, another couple is also sailing with us, me an dmy husband are not soda drinkers but the other couple is, somone suggested to them to pack their own sodas to bring, I told them I don't think they should but I think they are going to do it anyway, is this allowed? Thanks.
Yes its allowed, the restrictions are on alcholic beverages. Since I drink only caffine free diet coke and no cruise line has that, I always bring a soft side cooler full. Even tho it goes thru the x-ray machine no one has ever asked whats inside [coke can and beer can looks the same on x-ray]. I've never noticed anyone on any cruise line even giving me a "look" so don't worry about it. Also the room stewarts are great about keeping the cooler iced. 36 cruises no problems.
Coffee is free in the dining rooms and snack bars but if the ship has a gourmet coffee bar then you'll pay for it there.
We always order two carafes and rolls etc. at night to be delivered to the room at the time we want to awaken. Its free, just toke the room service person a couple of dollars. Coffee on all cruise ships is nothing to write home about, but what the hay, you're cruising so its OK.
One more bit of advice, READ your brochure cover to cover, there is much to learn in there.
