Question about carrying on alcohol...
I am going on a short weekend cruise to ensenada on Royal Caribbean's Viking Serenade and was wondering how strict they are with carrying on alcohol and other drinks.
I have read several messages saying that you can put them in your suitcase or in your carry on and they won't stop you. Is that true?
I was thinking maybe I could fill a water bottle up a clear alcohol and take it on with a couple other bottles of water. Do they allow you to carry on water and sodas?
Any reply will be helpful.
Thanks.

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
I just got off the Radiance of the Seas and had no trouble with a bottle packed in my checked luggage. They also did not check or ask about liquor at any of the ports of call. If you buy liquor by the bottle on board thay will allow you to bring it to your cabin for onboard consumption for an additional $9.50 charge.
Bringing on water and soda is OK.

Hi Eric,
You should have no trouble bringing a bottle on, we've done it in the past and never have been questioned, have a great cruise.

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
Well, I wonder if you are going on a cruise... or a picnic. Why in the world would you want to carry on your own alcohol, or for that matter water, particularly since you are just going for a weekend?

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
eric - i think it was a fine question. i live in FL & 2 friends flew in for a 3 day cruise & i supplied all alcohol & soda. We took 3, 24-packs of soda in a duffle bag & I had 3 different liquors packed in my suitcase (unfortunately we all drank something different) There was no problem at all & the steward kept 2 ice buckets filled for us all the time. You'll have a great time & find there are plenty of people who take their own liquor -- even if it is just a short cruise.

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
Nancy... I live in Florida too. Taking on that cache of beer, soda, water, etc. is... well.. doable, for sure... lacking in class, well... yes, for sure. For many, it takes away from the cruise experience. For others, it has the effect of lowering the cruise experience to something akin to a visit to MacDonalds, rather than an elegant change of pace. Oh well... C'est la vie!

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
Eric,
We have carried all on board, alcohol, mix, water... No problems, our steward even brought us a small cooler to keep the ice. Why would one want to spend a fortune in drinks when you can supply your own! Have a great time, just don't flaunt the stuff and you won't have a problem.

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
There is no problem bringing a modest amount onboard. I find it very convenient to be able to mix a drink in my cabin. The room stewards will bring ice and don't mind. Of course, buy RCI's drinks once you are out of your cabin rather than mixing your own.

Re: Question about carrying on alcohol...
We cruised 9/2 to 9/9 on the VOS. There was a big sign
ALL ALCOHOL WILL BE STOWED . Either bought at a port
or bought on the ship. We could take it back to our cabin from
the ships store by paying a extra $10.00 per bottle. We have
sailed 14 cruises with RCCL and if I wanted to go Carnival
we would have booked with them!!!!!!!! Any one else have this
situation... They did xray bag when boarding from ports.
