Default Shore Excusion in Cozumel?

Like to get any opinions on Shore Excusion in Cozumel. Currently debating to take ship excursion or venture out on my own ? Any help would be much appreciated. Ideally, would like to hang out on nice beach and possibly do a little snorkeling. Oh ya, a little shopping never hurts

Travelling on the Monarch 12/15.

Thanks

Just an added note:

From what I've read in the messages boards. I've heard good things about cHAKANOB & Playa de Sol ? Any insight to boths sites would be truly appreciated.

Hi Al,
Have also heard good things about Chankanaab Park, you can just grab a cab at the pier and get there, should not be a problem picking up a cab for the ride back either. You may also want to check out Carlos and Charlies before you board again.

Have FUn!

I was just there about a month ago and Chankanaab Park is only about 2 miles from the pier. We just hung out there for the day. They've got great snorkeling there right off the beach! Tons of fish of many colors and you don't even have to venture more than 20 ft from the shore! You can also check out some ruins, dolphins, and they have a restaurant right on the beach. The snorkeling gear is cheap to rent too! Only $5 for mask, fins, and snorkel for the whole day! I even got one of the guys to let a set go for $3! It costs $10 per person to get in the park, but you can come and go all day, just save your receipt!

Going to Chankanaab Park isn't affiliated with the ship and it's excursions correct? This is done on your own? Can we expect the ship to promote other scuba diving excursions and try getting people to stay away from going off on their own?

Hi Ez,
Yes, thats true you can do Chankaab Park on your own. I believe there could also be a ship excersion to there as well, so check through your list of shore excersions too. YOu can usually save a little money by doing it on your own, but it takes a little planning. Doing a ship excersion takes the planning stage out of it and if for some reason they are running late, the ship will know and wait, where if you are on your own, its just that.

Happy Cruising!
