Default THinking of Getting Married On Board

Has anyone gotten married on board a Royal Caribbean cruise? What did you think? Is it worth it? Thanks.

hi
I got married on Monarch of the Seas Nov 7 2002... The wedding company that RCCL contracts thru ,Royal Romance, is horrible. It was a night mare and I wished that I would have done something else where. The cruise was great but the wedding done on the ship prior to disembarking was sad.
I booked over a year in advance and had 20 people show for wedding and 16 sail with us. Once I booked I paid most of wedding ceremony off immediately, except for things I thought I might add (open bar, tux, music, and so on). I kept waiting for someone to tell me how wedding would happen and was told to wait til 2 wks prior to sailing and i would be contacted...
As stated 45 days prior ceremony would have to be paid for in full. So travel agent called got final price and travel agent paid over phone with my credit card. I never got a call 2 wks prior and less than 1 wk to go they called (me thinking they wanted to talk about what i needed to go and where i needed to be and when...) stating that I needed to pay up or ceremony wasnt gonig to happen. Basically they lost my payment and had to research payment, then they were just kinda like "sorry". before i let them go i asked when i was gonig to get info about times and where wedding was to be they answered i should have already had it. I finally got info.
Once at ship there were 2 weddings same day, same boat. With the number of people for wedding , i had to pay for extra coordinator...well the wedding coordinator appologized that they are short 1 coordinator and that there were only 3 coordinators for both weddings. She was going over options "i picked out"....but i was never given option of music selections, decorations. I understood that i was to be escorted to get my hair done and all appointments prior to wedding... but she didnt know where salon was so I went looking for it and lucky they took me early becuase as soon as i was done i got dressed and only had 5-10 min before wedding. Coordinator called me and didnt know where flowers were and had to find them. My $180 2 tier cake was crooked, the cake table had a plant ploped up there that looked like they just picked it up from walmart flower department in the black plastic pot and set it next to the cake.
It was horibble. I booked this wedding because my husband and I worked crazy hours and were both still in school and thought someone would ask us what we want and it would be there, but I was wrong. They told me when I booked that someone would contact us when time got closer. I called them at 6 mo. and 45 day prior and they still kept telling me that when it got closer they would call me. Then less than 1 wk away still no info and I would have paid more for extras (decorations and what not) but what i did pay for was poor ($180 cake, $150 for extra coordinator, the flowers that came with wedding package misplaced, decorations provided poor and tired). At first I thought I was being picky but when I saw pictures people had taken, I wish I had spent money else where. Any other questions please contact me.
BUT RCCL cruise on Monarch was great and in no way did i let ceremony bring down our vacation with all our family that went.

I'm getting married on Serenade of the Seas when we dock in St Thomas. We're not using Royal Romance and after reading the above review, I'm glad we're not. We're using a wedding cooridinator right on the island of St Thomas, that has received nothing but rave reviews, they've been doing this for over 35 years. When I was doing my search, I found numerous coordinators for almost every island. The coordinators give you more options, respond quickly, and are much less expensive than Royal Romance. Hope this helps.

I have no experience with this, but the chapel on the Brilliance class and Voyager class are really nice. Best of luck to you whatever you decide to do.

We had a renewal of vows ceremony on the Grand Princess, from what I have heard the captain of the Grand is the only one on the seas that can legally marry you at sea so the ceremony was done in the middle of the week on one of the sea days while we were sailing. Don't know about the wedding but the renewal package was about $250, which included champagne, champagne glasses to keep, a framed 8X10 Photo of the ceremony, canapes in the stateroom every night, a champagne breakfast in bed, and a marriage certificate signed by the Captain.

27 days until Navigator of the Seas.
