I was looking into where Coco Cay exactly is (the north east part of the Berry Islands, by the way) and other stuff like that. I came across a book "The Shallow Sea" by Neil Ruzic, who used to own the island (formerly Little Stirrup Cay) before selling it to RCCL. The book is about Ruzic's adventures on the island and his tussles with the Bahamaian government and is chronicled in a fictional ("truth through fiction") account he wrote into a novel.
Amazon.com gave the book a 5 out of 5 stars. Take a look. Or search - "The Shallow Sea" AND Ruzic on your own.
It seems to have gotten great reviews by editors and readers alike. Several say it should be turned into a movie. It is out of circulation, but I bought a used hardback for a little over $5. Some have found it at the library. I am looking forward to reading about the island before the trip and thought others may also. I can share more of what I found with those that are interested. Drop me a line.
If others have read it or know other history about the island, post it and share.
