Default Price in catalog?

If you pay the same price that is listed in the cruise catalog are you getting ripped off?
or does it depend on the boat and time of year?

Just wondering,
Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I would think it's like paying sticker price for a new car. That is likely the highest price one would pay and we have always received better prices than what was in the catalog.

Well... if you pay the price in the Catalog... or ANY price quoted directly from the Cruise Line, you are paying more than you should... always.

Ripped off, no. But you are paying WAY more than you should. Shop around and contact TA's etc and you will usually get the cruise reduced anywhere from 25-75% off the published brochure rate depending on the cruise itself.

Hi Dawn,
I've never had to pay the price in the catalog, any travel agent will get you a better price. If you have a date/ship already in mind, you may want to post in the "bargain finder" here to get an idea of what the cost is. You may also want to be specific as to what catagory you want and go from there, good luck!

Keep in mind too though that spring break, summer June to August, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and Xmas and New Years cruises are a lot closer to brochure rate than Sept. to Dec not including holidays. This is cheap season now but you are gambling with hurricanes and you have to realize that and not complain when the ships are out in the oceans around them (they have to stay at least 200 miles from them I think is the rule). Many are complaining but that is why they are so cheap right now. Generally when school is out the price is higher because that is when families can sail and the cruise lines will rack in a much as they can. In Sept - Nov. you should get at least 50% off the brochure. Also remember that back when the MIllinium 2000 sailings were going for sale at higher than brochure. Debbie
