Does anyone know of a site, post, etc. or have the ability to post a range of costs for onboard items and services for Royal Caribbean International? This includes any items that involve paying above the base cruise rate (i.e. ice cream, coffees, spa services, etc.)
If anyone should have any information or cost schedule, it would be great!
Steve, I just read your request again and can help you out a little. To my knowledge there is no site where you can find pricing. I tried to find pricing for a massage before my cruise but could not. The Spa services are very expensive. However, I did notice that on some days, (mainly days in port when not that many people are on the boat) that they had discounts. I ended up paying 59.00 dollars for a 1 hour massage with a $10.00 tip. This was 40% off. All soft drinks are 1.73 including tax added to you cruise card. Alcohol drinks are generally the same as in any bar. $5.95-7.95 for mixed drinks and 3.00-4.00 for beer. Shops on board are the same pricing as any resort. However, you do not pay any taxes and Jewelery seems to be a little cheaper. They really push Tanzanite. (I fell for it in Ocho Rios). Bought a small ring. No tax here either. Alcohol on the ship is cheap. There are no taxes, but you cannot take it back to your room. They hold it for you until the nite before you leave and delivery to your room. (They want to buy the expensive stuff from the bar). Tips will also COST you. We were prepared but it really is alot of money. Room Steward/Waiter $3.50 per day per person Asst. Waiter $2.00 per day per person Head Waiter (still haven't figured out exactly what his main job is) but anyway we gave him $5.00 per person for the week. Bingo is also offered everyday on the Enchantment. We bought the middle of the road package for $35.00 4 times. I think the highest price one for 55-60 dollars. But the jackpot on Friday was $9300.00. Of course we did not win. Other than that most everything else in included. I really never saw any ice cream but I have read reviews that there was some available. I don't think there is an extra charge for this. Oh Yeah. one more thing about the tips. On the shore excursions, they constantly ask you for tips. The Bus Driver/Tour Guide/Cook/ Bottle Washer EVERYONE WANTS HIS CUT. Shore excursion pricing can be found on the Royal Caribbean website. Hope this helps some. I know I like to be prepared for additional costs.
On EOS, and I thought on RCI in general, soft drinks, coffee (i.e, non-alcoholic drinks) in the dining room are not extra. Soft drinks away from the dining room are $2.50. Ice cream with meals is not extra and on EOS there are free ice cream machines all over the ship.
As for alcohol, see one of the new posts above about being able to take liquor to your room for a $10 fee. I'm not much of a drinker, so it's amazing to me that people think this is a deal. I can't see paying $10 extra or, for that matter, forking over $20 extra to eat at the Portofino. The food comes from the same kitchen (galley) and I can't believe it would be any better than the dining room food, which was fabulous. I have seen posts saying that it wasn't any better.
The suggested tips probably aren't any more than you would give for a wait staff in a regular restaurant. We had a great wait staff and cabin staff. It just seems like a lot because you have to pay it all at once. Of course, you can raise or lower it depending on the level of service. We used our SeaPass to charge the tips and gave out vouchers on the last night. That is really convenient--not to worry about having exact cash.
That's strange Kathie, I was on EOS also and soft drinks were charged to your account period, dining room or not. Also ice cream machines were not all over the ship. They had one in the cafe and it was only available from like 4-5pm! A lot of passengers fussed about that so maybe they changed it?! When did you sail her to have had all this stuff? I was on her this past April. BTW any ship I've ever been on did not include soft drinks, that was always extra.

I can clear up a few of these issues from when I was on the Explorer in August. Soft serve ice cream is free - I found machines in three different places - I don't believe they were available 24 hours a day but I was able to get some for my late night snack every night from the machine on the promenade. Soda by the can is $1.50 plus tip and fountain soda is $1.25 per glass plus tip.
