We are going on Navigator in September. We booked the Eastern Itin. We have been to St. Thomas and Nassau, but never to San Jaun or Labadee.
Any info on these two ports would be great! I am very curious about Labadee. Is this an island, or an actual town? What acitivities are offered there? Is it a nice beach? And is there food and drinks available?
What about San Jaun? Any specific beach or excursion recommended? And how is the shopping there? Specifically jewelery!
Labadee is on the mainland of Haiti. It is a private area leased by Royal Caribbean .
There is no town, as such. There are shops, beaches and the ship will furnish food.
All activities there are through the ship.
In San Juan, you will dock near the "old San Juan" area. A lot of history there. There are a couple of old fortresses, one being "El Moro" which is certainly worth visiting. Lots of shops in the old San Juan area. There is a tourist office very close to the docks. I would check with them for a walking map and ifo. re/ any specific thing you are interested in. The ship will have several tours here as well.
Hi Carrie,
You will be tendered into Labadee and its a wonderful beach day, lots of water activities and a lunch will be there on the island as well as drinks that you can purchase using your sign and sail card. You can rent the water mats ahead of time, great way to soak up some sun in the water, they do sell out fast, so I'd pre-book one of those if you want, I think it was $10 for the entire day. They have parasailing and we did the jet ski tour, which was a gas, that also is popular and will fill up. You can pre-book these excursions on the RCCL web-site when you get to 60 days prior to your cruise, definitely think about that if there is anything you really want to do. Labadee is great, enjoy!
I was just on Voyager last week................our first port was Labadee. The best beach on Labadee (in my opinion) for swimming and floating around is Nellie's Beach. You get calm waters and an excellent view of the Ship. If you walk across the island to the other side, you'll find a very rocky beach with huge waves........great for surfing but not for sunning. Also, buy a Coco Loco drink...............you'll hear about those all day, they are great! (Also remember to bring some money because you'll have staff members fighting with each other over who gets to fetch you a beach chair, and they expect to be tipped. Have fun!!!

Labadee is wonderful, it is part of Haiti. The beaches are really nice. They have banana boat rides wave runners. A special play area for the kids. They feed you on the island with food from the ship. It's really a free day unless you chose to do one of the excursions they offer, or want to do the banana boat rides or wave runners. I believe they rent out floating mats as well as snorkeling equipment. They also have a market there to buy wares from the locals. All in all we have had a wonderful time at Labadee.
