Default Smart Casual

I will be traveling on the Encahntment of Seas here shortly. Do I need to bring a sports jacket for the smart casual night or will a tie and nice shirt/slacks work?

We just returned from the Radiance, and we saw a little bit of everything on Smart Casual night. From nice long sleeve sport shirts to jackets with open collar. Didn't see many ties. I wore a jacket, a button down oxford, and dress slacks...seemed to work great. It was nice to be able to break out a summer weight jacket for dinner, and I was glad I didn't have to wear a tie.

Hope this helps....have a great time on your cruise!

Husb is bringing a tie for smart casual next week on Enchantment--but I expect he'll ditch it if others are not similarly attired.

The trend in cruising is certainly headed in the "more casual" side of dress. I've seen folks on Smart Casual in short sleeved Polo/Golf shirts.

RCCL "recommends" jackets for men. No ties are mentioned. I wear a jacket nice shirt of any kind , no tie and the jacket. Always felt properly dressed this way. However as I said above Jackets are just "recommended", so wear what is comfortable within the "recommendation"

Bherrell,
We were on Enchantment in December.
My fiance wore a sport jacket the first smart/casual night and he looked just fine. However, he was the only one at our table of 10 wearing one, and the only one in our little area. We were on the 1st floor, in the center of the room in the row where the captain's table is.

He ended up not wearing any sport coats again.

I'm guessing each crowd on board might be a little different. We didn't even see that many tuxedos on formal night, so maybe we were with the "ultra casual" group!
