Default From the source...Rock Climbing wall on Enchantment and Drin

I emailed RCCL and inquired... and was answered....

Question 1...What happened to the Alcoholic Beverage Drink card Program?

Question 2...Is a rock climbing wall being installed on Enchantment of the Seas?

Here is the response I received:

In a message dated 7/30/2003 12:44:58 PM Eastern Daylight Time, web_reservations@rccl.com writes:

Thank you for your inquiry, Stephanie.

At this time, Royal Caribbean International does not offer an alcoholic
beverage package.

A rock climbing wall is being added to Enchantment of the Seas is September
of 2004.

Thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International.

I notice on the FYI section of the website the Alcoholic Beverage card has
been
removed. Is that going to be available for purchase any longer? If so how
much
will it cost.

Also I heard Enchantment is having a rock climbing wall installed in Aug.
is
this true?

In reading about your policy about alcohol cards I didn't see anything
mentioned about blended drinks, ie, Margaritas, Pina Coladas etc, etc.
Will these require additional money? Can we just purchase alcoholic
beverages with our sign and sail card and not buy an alcohol card?

It seems that the rumors were correct about them abandoning ther drink card program.

Yeah thats a nasty message from RCI. Why won't they tell anyone the exact date of this policy change? We had two drink cards back on June 8th on our cruise, so the program must have been discontinued just after that for some reason. Very odd that RCI doesn't have a news section about policy updates on their website.

This is from RCI's website, the FAQ section. According to this, the Beverage Program is still operational.

Yes the Beverage Program is indeed still operational, but if you look closely, the alcoholic beverage card is no longer listed on the site. The soda cards and the non alcoholic drink cards are available. If you do the math they were making about $3.50 a drink not including the added gratuity, so I assume it just wasn't profitable enough for them.

That brings up a good question... I know with the cards that tips were included, but what about other drinks? And can anyone tell me the average price of the drinks onboard? (now that the option of buying the cards is out...)

I've just read the above message . I'm disgusted at Royal Caribbean nickeling and dimeing on sodas and soft drinks. We don't drink much alcohol so we would be drinking sodas most of the time. We have booked and paid for our first cruise so we can't really get out of it now, but if (probably when) we would definitely think about another cruise we would look at another cruise line that doesn't do that so much.

Were sailing on August 24 and are disgusted that RCCL would nickel and dime on there sodas. And the drink card being removed geezus. As if there not making enough money from us already. Even at $3.50 with the card our crowd would have gone through
quite a few of them. Beiing from Canada with exchange we will be paying about 10 bucks a drink. Absolute Bs. Well I for one will now be thinking about bringing a few bottles packed in my luggage. FYI We were on princess last year and paid 18 bucks fr a beverage card for sodas. Compared to Royal Caribbeans 33 bucks................

I loved to know the brain child who decided on the course of action with drink cards
especially at a time tourist industry still are trying to lure customers With threats of terrorism everday. You,d think they would being making good incentives to help boost the cruise industry.

I thought I posted this before but may not have succeeded--where are they putting the rock climbing wall on Enchantment.? The only free space I noticed on board was near the golf practice area. The ship seemed perfect to me but I am just curious...not a big rock climbing fan but would probably observe it!
