We are booked on the 11/22-29 sailing of RCC Grandeur of the Seas... we are wondering if anyone out there can share the best snorkling places in Cozumel. Should we book with the ship or with a private tour group in Cozumel?
Here's a pretty good website http://www.travelnotes.cc/cozumel/contents/diving.html. In general, any boat-based snorkeling trip is going to be much better than from the beach, but there is good beach-based snorkeling too. There are so many good reefs on Cozumel that any tour operator can take you to fantastic snorkeling. Palencar Reef is usually referenced as one of the best, and in the same breathe folks talk about San Francisco.
You can grab a cab to Chankanaab Park ($8). It costs 10.00 per person to get in, but I have been there three times and it is beautiful. You can snorkel and swim from the beach. There is food and facilities and the place is beautiful and very clean.
Hi we went on the Fiesta Party Boat that incorporated snorkling among other fun activities. Depends on how much snorkling you really want to do. we were there last Nov. Just watch out for jellyfish. Depending on the weather, they may or not be bad.
