I have a question I haven't seen yet. If we are at a table for 10 or 12 people, and we receive a complimentary bottle of wine from a friend as a gift, what is the etiquette about either sharing that bottle with table mates or perhaps ordering a second bottle to supply the table? Is it polite to share the bottle between the two couples traveling together?
Either way you want to do it, is fine. Personally if I have a bottle of wine I like to offer a glass to everyone at the table, one cruise we took turns each evening ording a bottle, but its fine if you want to just share it with the couple you are cruising with too.
Last year we were at a table with two couples who were celebrating anniversaries. One couple had a bottle of champagne given to them by their TA and they shared it with our table. Another night the other couple ordered a bottle of wine from the steward and shared it. We were feeling flush from a good night at the slots and bought a farewell bottle of wine to share with everyone on the last night. There were only the 6 of us--the other couple never showed. (Their loss.)
I wonder if one bottle would be enough for a table of 12. You may need another. I doubt if anyone would mind if you just shared it with your friends.
We were at a table of 10 last October on the Enchantment...each night (we did a 5 night cruise) a different couple would buy a round of those dessert drinks for the table. We had fun collecting the little shooter glasses.
