No injuries in Majesty of the Seas galley fire (2/5/2004)
MIAMI -- A galley fire onboard Royal Caribbean International's Majesty of the Seas did "minor damage" to one of the ship's eateries, but caused no injuries to guests or crew members, the line said.
The fire, caused by a deep-fat fryer in the ship's Windjammer buffet-style cafe, started around 4:47 a.m. Feb. 5, the line said.
As a precaution, Royal Caribbean said the ship's 2,376 passengers moved to their lifeboat stations for about 25 minutes. The fire was extinguished by 5:08 a.m.
The ship remained on its published itinerary, a four-day Caribbean cruise from Miami.
The ship was expected to call in Key West, Fla., later in the day.
The Windjammer, however, will be closed.
