Reasonable is in the eye (or is that pocketbook ?) of the beholder but I booked the Embassy Suites at a very reasonable price. They provide shuttle service.

If Embassy is too pricey try Amerisuites booked through valuetrips.com--they are great to deal with & the price is good, down the street from Embassy, near food, free breakfast beffet & free shuttle, small pool area. Wouold have preferred Embassy but could not pay that much for a one night visit & still shy about using priceline.
Check out biddingfortravel.com, it is a very informative site on how to use priceline and hotwire. I have used priceline very successfully for many pre and post cruise stays and have been very satisfied with the hotels I have gotten. If you want the Embassy Suites, the area you want to bid is downtown Fort Lauderdale, and at least a 3 star qulaity level. Although not guarenteed, the only hotels that have shown up on those bids have either been the Marriott Marina or the Embassy Suites, and occasionally an upgrade to the Renaissance, which is listed as a 4 star hotel. All three hotels are very nice, and you should be able to get them for 40% to 60% less than other sites. Although the Embassy Suites does have a shuttle, all the hotels are all within 10 minutes from the port, and a very inexpensive cab ride. As a note, the Hyatt Regency Pier 66, which is a 4 star hotel in the Fort Lauderdale beach zone, has been coming up fairly regularly for a very good price. Although it is not on the beach, it is a very nice facility next to a Marina and very close to the Inter-coastal waterway. If you are going to be there for most of the day, you may also want to try and bid for the resort level in the beach zone. The only hotel that has shown up, is the Marriott Harbor Resort, which is a great facility right on the beach. Lastly, if you are dead set at staying at the Embassy Suites and do not want to chance getting anything else, go to Hotwire.com. The Embassy Suites comes up as a 3.5 star hotel with a Red "S" for suite. Do not confuse with the 2.5 star which is Ameri-Suites, and not nearly as nice.
