Anybody out there who can comment on Splendour of the Seas? My daughter and I are booked April 12, 2004, and I'm getting a little worried about this ship. Our first cruise was Explorer of the Seas two years ago, and I'm afraid nothing can top that. I realize this ship is a little older, but hopefully it's still in great shape. Any comments would be appreciated!
Our family cruised on the Splendour last October and had no complaints. At the beginning of the cruise we noticed the mini golf was in need of repair. Then we found out a climbing wall was being built the following week when the ship was in dry dock and the miniature golf course needed to be revamped to accommodate it. Thus the reason for it's condition.
We had cruised on the Explorer before as well and yes, the Splendour is smaller, but it is still a nice ship.
Go into the cruise expecting a nice but older Holiday Inn style and you won't be dissappointed. The food and service are fantastic. The decor a little outdated, but nothing you can't enjoy if you don't go into it with expectations similar to the Explorer of the Seas. Enjoy!
Just went on the four day cruise out of Galveston. Ship is in good condition except for the balconies which are in need of painting and cleaning. It looks like they are working on them now. The staff and service was excellent and we were very impressed since we have been on 40 + cruises. Did not care much for the Windjammer buffet because the food always seemed cold so ate in the dinningroom and the service and food was excellent. Also great room service.
