Pudy.. not a problem. I'm sure your e mail will be filled by people eager to suggest other web sites <G>
Since, as you say you're new here, I suggest you have a long look around CruiseMates. Check out all the different areas..... reviews, polls, feature articles, news, interactive features, photo galleries, etc., etc, etc.
Bet once you do you're going to want to run to all the other web sites on the net, to tell people the best one is CruiseMates <G>
The reasoning for the rules are really pretty simple. We, as well as many other cruise related web sites, are commercial ventures, supported by advertising dollars, in order to keep it free to the public.
We're VERY proud of the site and the information available here which is free for the taking, and sharing. We're also VERY proud of the community of people who share our message boards, and the friendly manner in which most of them help other cruisers.
But.. NONE of it would be available without the advertisers... And if everyone was allowed to fill the boards to advertise any site or agent, or .whatever they chose, there would be no value to the advertising we sell.... and therefore, in short order, no web site.
I agree with the others, and I haven't even been on my first cruise yet--just getting info for our VOS in 14 months. But since I've been on this board I've learned things my TA doesn't even know about. When I went to book the cruise, there was a couple next to us doing the same thing at the next desk. They also had never sailed. I was telling the TA that I wanted a balcony cabin, amidships, not under the kitchen or running track, not above the kitchen and not too close to the elevators but close enough. The people next to us got quiet and their TA said "she's probably been on cruises before" HA!! My husband said that no, I was just a planning freak and was on this awesome webboard that has lots of great info.
IMHO, McDonald's has the best. ; )
( I don't like that charcoal taste of BG and Wendy's seem kind of gooey)
I will just say that this board provides very valuable information without playing favorites and allowing certain groups of posters to get nasty with no admonishments. I've seen another board where this is the case, and trust me....this board is nothing like that, no question is "stupid", and posters are friendly and informative. I think you'll like it here...I certainly do!
Hey Rick!! Like your flags ..... my son just completed his five year commitment to the Marine Corps in December. He's still out in San Diego .... went right from the Corps into a job with helicopters like he had ..... actually still working at Pendleton. Sorry, when I see anything Marine .... just have to add my 2 cents!! hehe! I'm a 'Marine Mom', you know!! Great boards there as well! Anyway ... looking here since my husband and I just took our first cruise ... had never done it in all our many travels over the years because we weren't sure we'd like it. We are pretty independent and when we travel like to 'be on our own' so to speak. Surprisingly, we enjoyed our short 4 day trip and decided to try another cruise line and pay more attention to ports of call, time there, etc. Leaving on AOS on 10/10/04 for 7 nights Southern Caribbean cruise from Puerto Rico .... celebrating our 35th Wedding anniversary. Any advice or information would be great! Thanx! Charron, still a VERY proud Marine Mom!!
I'm a first time cruiser, leaving very soon and have gotten just about all I could ever hope to learn about cruising from this board. I looked at the others but think that the moderators have done a wonderful job of fostering a community of "polite" sharing of information here. Well done people!
I agree, I've posted a few questions that I thought might be kind of "dumb" but since I never cruised before, there were things I wanted to know. Not only were my questions answered but I've found out sooooo much info just from reading other posts. And from what I understand, there are no dumb questions here at Cruisemates
