photo ID for 16 year old

I recently read that for my 16 year old we will need photo id to board the ship. Is a High school Id good enough? In New Jersey, 16 year olds do not have drivers liscences. If the school ID is not adequate, what would be and where would I get it? We are going on empress of the seas to Bermuda in August.

my daughter too is 16 years old and we live in NJ .. recently we cruised out of tampa, and we did have to show them her school id with her picture. I would bring the photo id, rather be safe then sorry

if you feel that wont work go to your local DMV and get a picture ID card. just like a DL but without the driving priviledges.

School ID should be fine.

NJ DMV (now MVS, actually) does have an ID program w/o driving privileges. There's also county ID you get from the County Clerk. The counrty clerk is in the town where you county courthouse is. Look in the Blue pages in the phone book.

As always a passport is always the best form of ID.

My 14 year old has a passport. But you have plenty of time to get a non-driver ID if you think the school ID will not work.

The children under 16 will just need the birth certificate. Am I correct? We cruised on Carnival last year and this is all we needed for all 3 children. They were all < 16. Thanks everyone for your responses

Yes - under 16, all they need is a certified copy of their birth certificates.
