Default charges for eating

If you don't eat in the main dining room do you have to pay to use the other eating places on the ship?

depends what ship. But if it is a Chops or Portofino, yes it is a $25 charge per person. Worth it though.

If you have a Johnny Rocket's, you will have to pay depending on the ship. If you do need to pay, skip it. It's not worth it. The windjammer buffet is always free.

Yes, the Windjammer Cafe is still free and quite good for Breakfast and lunch. WE did have dinner there one evening and that was also very good.

Charge for Chops and Portofino and $20 per person...and very worth
it for a change of pace...excellent quality and preparation. In fact, the
$20 had to be for service, because it was too little to pay for the difference
in quality,etc. than dining rm.

For the longest time, I resisted the surcharge for Chops and Portofino. I wanted everything to be FREE!. On our Brillance cruise in January, we ate at Chops, paying the $20 surcharge. It was AWESOME! We will do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, we are sailing on the Jewel transatlantic cruise on September first, and we will be one of the first people to book Chops when we get on board.....
