Default Full Day in Ports?

When you arrive in port at 7 am what is there to do? Nothing in port is open that early, is there (Skagway)? Also, when n port for a full day, do you go back to the ship for each meal or eat in port? Thanks

Some tours start early. A lot at 0800. If you are at the RR dock and 3 rd ship back it will take you 15 min. to walk to town. I seldem waste time going back to the ship for meals and especially in Alaska- there is way too much to do if you plan right. But all ports are walk offs from the ship- right in town, so it is pretty easy to go back on the ship, eat and be back off within an hour. Go with what fits your schedule best. But most important- budget fully for Alaska tours- you get only half a trip without them.

It's good to hear I don't have to "tender". Thanks so much for the information.

I would plan to eat meals like lunch and dinner at port, rather than get back on and get back off the ship. More expensive, but much easier. Even though the ship docks at 7 am, that doesn't necessarily mean that you can get off the ship at that time.
