Just got back from Inaugral cruise on Jewel (8ty May - 15th May). Absolutely beautiful ship.
We had an outside cabin with balcony which was roomy enough for 2 adults and 1 child. The crew were very friendly. Food in Windjammer was superb and there was enough variety to please everyone. Dining room was ok but nothing special.
Any specific questions you have please ask.
WE are going July 15th, we have seen a lot of pictures and all areas do look beautiful except for one, the indoor pool. From the pictures, the theme does not work, and it looks really busy. The worst picture I have seen is the Temple bridge over the pool. What did you think?
I know what you mean but seeing it for real it is really quite nice although the pool in very cold and it is salt water. As the solarium is heated we did expect the pool to be heated as well but it was not so we stuck to the spa tub instead.
Hello from England,
Yes the Jewel is well named. Most people on this maiden cruise enjoyed it and I haven't heard any serious complaints to date. allowing for the fact that it was a maiden voyage with a new crew. . Because the ship is really designed for cruising in warm climates, and the weather was average on our trip, the Solarium was always packed out as it was too cold to sunbathe on deck. However I do not think that you can blame RCCI for the weather. The shows were spectacular and the food was good. The slight niggle was the breakfast service in the Tides which needs a slight fillip to speed it up but it wasn't enough to ruin a super holiday.
We never had a problem with overcrowding the the solarium. We went there most days after lunch and although it was busy it was ok. We always got seats although it was quite obvious that some very selfish people would leave books, towels etc on seats whilst they left the solarium. There should be some sort of time limits on how long you can be away from you seat before you loose it.
