My Mom is planning on sailing the Jewel of the Seas in October out of Boston. Can anyone tell me the closest airport to the pier, and approximate travel time from the airport to the dock? Is it best to go by cab, or take the ships transfers. Also looking for a reasonably priced hotel & perhaps a free shuttle to the pier. She will be flying from the San Franciso area and will need to do an overnighter. Any help, advise, suggestions are appreciated.
The ride from the Airport to Black Falcon cruise terminal is approx. 15min. thats with traffic. The Hotel I would suggest is the Seaport Hotel. I'm sure they have free shuttle service. Its located across the street from Boston's World Trade Center., and only 10 min. walk to the ship.
Other airport hotels are the Hyatt, Holiday Inn and Hilton. All Boston hotels are on the expensive side, so she should compare the rate for two people including transfer from the cruise line, with the best rate you can get for the room plus taxi fare. Hyatt and Seaport are very nice hotels 4*. Taxi fare will be under $10 each way. Try Hotwire, Hotels.com, etc. plus check out Sunday's travel section and see if any chains are offering major sales. October is quieter in beantown as the kids are back in school and the tourists are up country looking at the foliage.
Bon Voyage
