We're going with a bunch on 10/24. When are you going and don't forget to sign up for the meet and mingle. It's fun to meet the people you've been talking to on the boards.

Can't tell you anything about this ship since we've been doing Celebrity the past few years. All I can say is we've never had a bad time and look forward to each cruise we take no matter what line.

The only RCL we've been on is the Sovereign out of Port Canaveral and that was a short cruise.

Our thread is on Cruise Critic. Come on over.

The only slightly "bad" things I recall are (and I mean slight):
1) You may have to wait for the rock climbing wall. It is pretty popular
2) Putt putt at sea doesn't work well. Too much wind.
3) The inline skating track is too short
4) The Voyager-class gets a LOT of children. Although they are usually not underfoot, you will see them a lot of them in the promenade and at ice cream machines. It can give you a feeling of it being a family vacation instead of a romantic one (I have children of my own so I'm not bashing the fact that there are children on board).

The good is too numerous to list. We love the Voyager-class ships. They are always our first choice. Two things that are kind of out of the way that are unique are:
1) The waterfall urinal in the men's restroom outside of the WindJammer I believe. The entire outside wall is glass. This design isn't as nice on ships post-Adventure
2) The golf machine in the 19th hole bar on the top deck. Fascinating.
3) Ok, a bonus item :-) The art throughout the hallways as stair wells is quite interesting. Plan on just walking both sets of stairs to see the art.

Hello...we are also going on the Adventure but on the October 17th Southern Caribbean route. First time on the Adventure, but we have been on the Voyager twice and the Navigator twice. I think there almost all alike except for the decor of the ship and some different shops and pubs on the promenade floor.

Hope someone else is also going on October 17th. Have a great cruise.

You're going all around us, but not with us. Isn't anyone besides our group of 12 going on the 24th? We are going to SJ on the 23rd. Are any of you going a day early? We got a great deal on a hotel. Let me know if you're interested in any of the details.

The only bad thing is disembarking. This is my favorite class of ship. Been on voyager & explorer.

We were on this ship in Feb. Please feel free to check out my post cruise review back in Feb on this board. You will love her and the ports of call. Bon Voyage! We leave in October on Explorer and then at Thanksgiving on Summit. Look forward to each and every one!

I have a question about the "hump"

My cabin is E2 balcony 7626.

Anyone familiar or by looking at the deck plans can you let me know how the wind is or if that is a good view. Booked for my honeymoon next June. Never had a cabin on a hump & my fiance has never cruised. I want it to be perfect.

TIA

bug18....

I was also on the AOS on 7/11. Wasn't it great?! I had such a great time.

The only bad thing I can say about that trip was the immigration mess in St Thomas. We waited in line for well over an hour. My husband and brother in law were 20 minutes late for their golf excursion. Luckily, they (the transportation to the golf course) realized what was happening with the immigration mess, so they did wait for him.

Wes....

You said you got a great deal on a hotel in San Juan. I hope its not at the Diamond Palace. We stayed there and it was terrible. Air conditioning didn't work worth beans. In our room, 2 of the lamps had burned out bulbs (or maybe they just didn't work at all )and the floor next to the bed was wet....smelled like old beer. My sister's room was even worse. Her tub was backed up with dirty water, her toilet kept backing up, and the ceiling was leaking in the bathroom. She had workers in her room, literally, all night (til 5 am). When she requested to change rooms, she was told they were no rooms available. She couldn't even shower in her room in the morning. She had to wait until she got on the ship to use the shower in her cabin. When she tried to get a refund or some sort or compensation, because she booked thru Hotels.com, she was told she had to take it up with them. She is still waiting to hear from Hotels.com.

Bottom line to anyone out there.....DO NOT STAY AT DIAMOND PALACE.

Yes, the immigration line was a mess. I couldn't believe it. Everyone I had talked to said it usually takes 10 minutes. I was not a happy camper about that.

Bug18...

You could tell that the staff on the ship weren't prepared for that long line too. From what I heard, they normally have about 6 US Immigration agents handling that, but this time there were only two. Sounds like it was US Immigration's fault.

So...which excursions did you go on. We swam with the dolphins in Curacao.....that was the best! We also did the Bar & Pub Crawl in Aruba....that was a riot!...had a great time!

We did the dolphin the dolphin encounter in Curacao and the land and sea tour in St. Maarten. They were both great.

Sammo, if you are going on the Aruba itinerary, you cabin location is wonderful. You will be overlooking the islands at all the ports. You are also near the stairs and elevators to the Atrium, dining rooms and gangway. Enjoy :-)

P.S. Hi to LauriM and bug18. Lauri, I "met" Bug on the other board and told her she should have joined the M&M it was lots of fun. I am already checking out cruises for next vacation. . .. nothing seems as appealing as the AOS. . .Might have to do it again. I met several people who have done the AOS more than once. There is something real *fishy* with that immigration thing. Our theory is that RCI did something to po Immigration and Customs. . .Just a theory, and hopefully it will get straightened out real quick, because Y'all are going to LOVE the AOS. . .good choice everyone. . .:-)

I wonder about the immigration thing also. Especially since the 7/4 sailing seemed to take a long time to clear on the 11th which is why we couldn't get on the ship earlier.

Got2Cruise....

Hi Sue.....how's life after the cruise?... I'm kinda bummed right now as we don't have any specific cruise planned for a while...lol Well...thats not entirely true....I was trying to plan a group cruise in February. Just the little 3 day cruise to Ensenada out of Los Angeles. I had told a lot of my family about it a while back, and now they are all calling me to get details. I guess I better get my act together and get it all booked.

I've been peeking in occasionally at our Adventure 7/11 Casino Nite Owls thread, and it appears no one has anything more to chat about.... I'm just as guilty as the rest. ;-)

Take care...keep in touch!

Hi Laurie,
Last night was the first time since we were back since I cooked a full meal, and let me tell ya, what is all the complaining about the food not being good on RCI. . .it is better than my cooking. :-) And, where can I find someone to come in a make my bed every morning and turn down my covers at night and leave me a chocolate on my pillow. Are there any husbands out there who do this for their wives? Maybe I need to trade mine in.
Take care Laurie. . .you have two beautiful daughters.

/Sue

Hi there,

Could someone explain the St. Thomas immigration process? We will be on the ship next April. What exactly do you have to do in order to get off the ship? I was planning to take the ferry over to St. John?

Thanks so much!

Lori

You need to go to the dining room where the inspectors are there from immigration. You then show your proof of citizenship.

Laurie, thank God from your description, we are not at the Diamond. We are at the SanJuan Resort & Casino, IslaVerde, $300 room for $146 through Orbitz.

Won't be long now and Pat and I can hardly wait!
