Going on the Voyager of the Seas 12/18/04. I've read other posts mentioning Margaritaville? What is it? Is it a bar, restaurant, shopping area?What do you do there? Is it safe? Thanks
Very safe, located in Key West, FL owned by Jimmy Buffet (who sings the song ("Wasting away again in Margaritaville") if you like places to shop don't miss this one!!! They play Jimmy Buffet music thoughout you have to go at least once. Enjoy!!!
Don't know about Jamaica but do know that 'Margaritaville' has become a catchword for anywhere that serves what else? margaritas (good ones anyway) - for example: Old Town, San Diego, some of the best I have ever tasted either side of the Mexican/US border (and the size choice WOW). Anyone else know of whereby I speak? Foods very good there also. I love it so much I am doing a cruise to Mexico just so I can go again - got to combine the two as its not a holiday, to me anyway, without a cruise also!!! Happy cruisin'!

The one in Ocho Rios (apparently there are 2??) that we saw was a short walk from the pier in a little shopping area. This one looked cool though it was too early for anyone to be in there. It had a waterslide at the top of the bar inside, which flowed outside into a pool. The little shopping area was a lot nicer that the Taj (only other one Ive been to) and I felt a lot safer (there was an armed guard at the entrance gate). The sales people werent pushy, didnt follow us around, and didnt try to pull us into their shops.
Sorry-forgot to add that there are several Maragritavilles around the world. Theres also one at City Walk in Orlando. He also has another chain called Cheeseburger in Paradise that has several locations. I believe there was one in Maui, and I think theres something in New Orleans as well.
