Default Roney Palace

We're going to be staying here for a few days before our cruise departs in Miami. Has anyone stayed here? Any comments?

Roney Palace is quite nice. They have recently undergone a massive renovation project.

You'll enjoy this resort for sure.

It is a nice hotel, especially the suites. The only down fall, in my opinoin, is that the pool is elevated so you are not right on the beach, you will have to go down some staircases or leave through the front of the hotel. When you look at the other hotels surrounding it, you notice that all of their pool areas are pretty much directly on the beach with a beach bar and everything. It is a cab ride away from South Beach about $8 I think.

If you don't mind cabbing around Miami, and having booked the Roney yet, I strongly recommend the Palms Hotel, I stayed there last year and it was very nice. The rooms are not as large as the Roney, although, they are quite modern and the pool area is fantastic, cabanas, beach bar, hammocks. Very tropical. It is a few blocks up from the Roney. Have fun and good luck!!!

We stayed at the Roney Palace pre & post our cruise in 2002. If your room is ocean side the view is incredible! We loved the pool, it is an infinity pool, it looks as if you can swim from the pool directly into the ocean. We enjoyed our time there very much. It is a beautiful hotel. I will say this , we travel with our kids and the Roney is near the night life, but it wasn't a problem for us we were all tired and headed back to our hotel at nightfall. tsj

I just found out that this hotel is shutting down on August 31st, they've gone bankrupt! We had it booked for Sept 2- Sept 5th, luckily our TA is covering us for another hotel with the same rating. We won't have to pay anything extra if the new hotel costs more (which is great because the Roney Palace was CHEAP!).
We learned about this by fluke- some friends of ours were thinking about going to Miami with us and tried to book the Roney. If it wasn't for them, we're not sure we would have found out.
If any of you have booked this hotel out there be ware!
I will look into the Palms Hotel- is it on the beach?

Yes the Palms is on the beach and it is really cute! All you need to do is pass the tiki bar outside and then past the pool through the gate there's the beach. The Hilton Fountainebleu is a nice hotel too. It is huge!
