Default Meals

Hello:

Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean has an 'Always Available' menu for dinner with more standard fare? I remember seeing this on one of the cruiselines. I am a picky eater and like most things plain. I am travelling with someone who likes to eat in the dining room everynight.

If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Marlene

Hi Marlene,
Yes, if I understand your question correctly....you'll find you can order certain dishes everynite in addition to the regular menu...I believe there was a steak and or some chicken that was always available.

Yes, on the voyager there were some plain meals listed over to one side.

If its not listed, just ask. If you dont like any sauces or anything with it, just tell them not to put any on or leave it on the side to try. They are very accomodating.

We have taken two cruises with RCCI recently, and both had items available everyday at the bottom of the menus in the dining room. The choices were a steak, chicken breast, fish, and one other main dish. They also had alternate sides like rice, baked potatoe, green beans, and other standards you could order instead of the changing menu items. Each one we tried was delicious and not out of the ordinary. You will definitely find something to eat and enjoy at every meal. Have fun!

Texas Cruiser is correct.

Another hint our waiter told me was if you liked something last night, ask you may be able to get it again. Obviously, this option is not "always available".

We just returned from the 7/30 Voyager. My mother likes everything plain so she ordered from the alternative menu most nites. The salmon and chicken were not plain enough for her...they were pre-seasoned ie roasted rosemary chicken, so I'm not sure what you should do. You could try ordering for the next night requesting a simple broiled dish for example, otherwise they are cooking for the masses and the food is already precooked when you order it...ie you can't get caesar salad with the dressing on the side...it is already prepared.

Good luck.

Our cousins traveled with us on a cruise, picky eaters they are the pickiest!!!! They don't even try anything new ever!!! The maitre d' told them to check the menu that is posted for the evening meal, if they didn't see anything that they liked tell him and he would see to it that they cook something that they did like. Very accomodating to them. A suggestion to you, contact the maitre d' of the dining room and ask him if the chef could please accomodate your taste in meals. With all that is low-carb, low everything I'm sure you will have no problem. They aim to please afterall its your vacation. Happy cruising.

Another option - order from the kids menu.
