Default Orlando Hotels

We're sailing our of Port Canaveral in December on the Mariner and staying in Orlando the night beofre. I'm looking at the Sheraton Suites Airport for that night. Any thoughts? Also what's a really nice restaurant in Orlando close by?
Thanks

Will you have your own car or do you have to rely on other methods of transportation to the port? Second question...if flying in to Orlando, do you have a flight that arrives late in the evening? The reason I'm asking, is because those things would determine what advice I would share with you. Let me know.

I highly reccomend staying in Port Canaveral at the Raddisson Resort at the Port. Unless you have planned activities in Orlando, this resort is a nice place to stay prior to cruising. It is the closest resort to the port, and they offer FREE shuttle to the ships, and if you have your own car, they offer FREE parking at the hotel while you are cruising.
Being so close to the port on the morning of your cruise allows more time in the morning to take your time getting ready. The link below will take you to their web site.

Just got back from the Mariner "9" day cruise. We had a wonderful time. She is huge!!

I agree with f7prez about being close to the port on the morning of your cruise. We stayed at the Radisson last year. Yes it is a very nice hotel but too crowded in the morning with everyone trying to get on the free shuttles, even with assigned times.

This year we stayed at the Hampton Inns, just 3 miles down A1A. We rented a car from Budget at the Orlando Airport and on the morning of the cruise dropped it off at the location right across the street from the port. We took their free shuttle and didn't have any problems. We were the only passengers. We were the first ones there.

If you don't have a car, they recommend Art's Shuttle for $3/person. They will pick you up at the time you request.

If you can go to the port on Saturday, eat at Grills. You can even print a 10% discount ticket from their website. We got there around 4 pm and saw the Glory and both Disney ships leave.

Have a great cruise!

If you could make it to Port Carnaveral, there are several hotels there that offer a week's free parking while on your cruise as well as a free shuttle to the port. Just another thought.

We are on a ll/13 cruise out of Miami and we're doing a 3 niter at our Hilton Time Share in Orlando near Sea World before the cruise. Our favorite restaurant, which is about 1 mile north of Sea World on International Boulevard, is Bahama Breezes. We will probably dine there our lst nite. Another favorite is Portabella which is in Disney Village. There are also 2 Japanese restaurants in the same vicinity of Bahama Breezes plus many others which we haven't experienced. If you are stuck in the airport area, it will be a 20-30 minute drive to B.B.
