Some people have mentioned they are going to Costa Maya as an alternate port.

Last week on Navigator we spent an extra day at sea. Those of us up early enough we able to see Grand Cayman as we went by. I have no idea if this will change int he future.

I have talked to one of the tour operators there and they said that they are almost 100 percent ready for operation. They are hoping cruise traffic will return soon.

Good luck. We were really sad to have missed that port.

Well ... I'm not sure if the whole island is. But the tour operator I spoke with said that despite the destruction their business is almost ready.

Sis - the 500 dollars and 50 percent deal was only for the people that lost 2 days of their cruise due to hurricane Jeanne.

Yes, Nativeway owner wrote that the citizens of GC are joining together and working very hard to be up and waiting for tourists soon. Possibly by the end of October with most hotels being open by that time.
Bon Voyage

One of the staff members on the Navigator as we passed the Grand Caymans the week of 9/18 had spoken to a friend of his that owns a shop and he said the main street was still under 8 feet of water and there were sharks swiming up and down the street. That adds a whole new dimmension to shopping that I wasn't ready to deal with!

My sister-in-law just cruised on the Carnival Conquest out of New Orleans. They substituted an extra day at Jamaica for the missed day at Grand Cayman. This was two weeks ago, just before Jeanne hit.
