On this message board, I never hear much about the Vision. Was wondering if anyone could give some personal opinions on this ship and what they enjoyed or disliked. Travelling on Feb. 14th, 2005 to Mexico and would appreciate your input.
My Husband and I sailed the Vision 10/17/04 to Mexican Riviera and had a wonderful time. Vision is a beautiful ship that has been maintained very well. We had a balcony cabin (7616) which was spacious and had alot of storage space! I brought hangars for the closet, but did not need to! The were two minor problems I found with this particular cabin; one was when you laid on the bed there was a definite motion - like a vibrating bed. It bothered me the first night, but I got used to it - not quite sure what caused it. The other was we were right over the Schooner Bar and when Piano man sang - wow!
Food on board was nothing to scream about, but that is just my opinion. I'm pretty picky in a steak and potatos kind of way and not too much into the fancy stuff. Let's say what I ate, I liked and I never went hungry!
The Schooner Bar was a very nice place to hang out and relax. The Casino was not huge, but I seemed to spend a lot of time there! The Solarium was very nice and I spent quite a bit of time there as well.
I had read reviews of the Vision of the Seas before I went and was not sure if I was going to be happy, but what a surprise! I would definitely sail this ship again, all the staff were just as friendly as can be and made my cruise very enjoyable.
Our cruise on the Vision was not as recent; it was to Alaska Sept 2002. We enjoyed it very much; we had been on the Rhapsody before, & they are sister ships. Decorated in peach/green tones, as I recall. We thought the service & food were very good. We had an outside cabin, & it was fine with us. We were in a rather large group, so we all ate together at night. We really loved the atrium, & sat there for hours people watching, listening to the orchestra, etc. I wasn't all that impressed with shows, but they may have improved them by now. I think you'll like it.
Have sailed on this ship maybe five times and will be on her again in 2 weeks. Never have we sailed on her and not enjoyed it. Always well maintained and currently has a very friendly captain on board. (Capt. George Pareskopolous (sp???) He gives very detailed bridge announcements that are very down to earth and have a friendly tone to them. Have had dinner and cocktails with he and his fiance' before and if you get the chance you will certainly enjoy his hospitality. The previous poster is correct in stating that there are areas on deck seven that have some noise issues. We prefer aft balcony cabins and I believe it is the port side aft which is over the "Shall we Dance Lounge???" . This area can really rock and roll when bands are playing.
We now select starboard side aft. In any event, you will enjoy this ship. My favorite areas are the Solarium and the Champagne Bar. Enjoy your cruise and I am happy to address any questions you may have. Happy sailing!
This will be our first cruise--have not been interested in the past but now we are excited. We are going to Alaska next August. Does anyone know if the lay out in a Grand suite is good for a child and two adults--we travel with a 7 year old? This is what we have booked but wonder if the owner's suite would be better. We don't need the room or the luxury but we do want to be able to put our grandson to bed while we stay up. Thanks for any information.
Since you just got back from the Vision of the Seas. Do you happen to know what nighta are the 50's and Western theme nights? We are planning a group and want to plan on other activities around theirs. Thank you, Doris
We are booked for March 20th. We will be going with our child who will be 17 months. He is a souveneir from a cruise in the carribean. We have no excursions booked yet, we have been to the Mex. Riv twice, and are really just looking to relax and enjoy the time away. Mexico is awesome and we live in Southern California so it is a cheap vacation!!!
We are sailing on the Vision April 24 w/ 5 teenagers. We sailed Carnival Conquest last year and loved it. We are nervous about going from such a "mega" ship to one so much smaller. Am hoping the teens will enjoy themselves and have plenty of activities to keep them busy. Also hoping they meet lots of new friends as well!
