I used Priceline to bid on a Ft. Lauderdale hotel for pre-cruise. I got the Marriott Marina, which is basically across the street from the pier, for $40 per night. It's a good hotel.

I've also heard people recommend the Amerisuites property, but we have never stayed there.

In October we stayed at the Amerisuites on 10th St.
about $72 per night w/taxes, etc. includes free
shuttle to port and breakfast. Also, we left our car there
for free!! and the parking lot in the port was $12/night I believe.

We thought it was great value...On returning, we took a cab
to the Amerisuites and it was under $10.

Also, there is a Outback Steak house and mexican restaurant
next door...

We have stayed at the Ameri-Suites on several occasions, the price was right and the accomodations were fine. Additionally, there are many resturants within walking distance besides the Mexican place and the Outback, as well as a grocery store, a liquor store and a drug store. If you want tro spend a little more, there is an Embassy Suites right next door to the Ameri-Suites that is also very nice.

I checked out the Amerisuites website and It shows 3 in Fort Lauderdale. Which is the closest to the RCCL Dock. Also, how new is the hotel? What was the room like? I stayed at the Radisson in Port Canaveral in October and was VERY dissappointed in it. The bathroom door would not open or close properly, once you got in and closed the door you couldnt get out. Actually could have been funny if I hadnt paid 120 dollars for the room. Does anyone have any comments on the Marina Marriott and what the rooms are like. Thanks

The Ameri-Suites we stayed at was on 10th. I'm not sure how old it is, but it;s clean, the rooms are more than adequate, They have a shuttle service both for the airport and the cruise port, and they have a breakfast in the morning. We've stayed there about 4 times and find it to be worth the money

It's the one on the 17th Street Causeway--also a great steak house just across from it & the Embassy Suites--Embassy is pricier unless you qualify for gov rate but has a nicer lobby. area. Can't beat the location & cleanliness of Amerisuites free breakfast, small but clean pool, workout room & a free shuttle if you don't want to take a cab... You can book it at supervalue.com (an easy website to deal with).
