Just found out my return flight out of Ft. Lauderdale after our Jewel cruise is now 11:05 and I'd really like to make it. Would love to hear from anyone that has cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale lately and can tell me how disembarkment went and how the security and check-in lines at the airport were?
It was a few years ago that we flew out of there after a New Years cruise. What a nightmare! The airport was just not able to handle so many cruise ship passengers and it was almost to the point of chaos. Bus after bus of people were unloaded. The lines for check-in were out the doors, and staff were getting frustrated and screaming at people to make aisles so others could walk through to security or the kiosks. I think we waited at least 30 minutes (probably more) to check in and it wasnt fun with an almost 1 yr old! After checking in, we had to haul everything including checked luggage through the mass of people to security where we had to wait in another line while the bags went through scanners. After that, we were free to head to security. Thankfully the line wasnt very long here. I sure hope for your sake things have improved. Ive never read any complaints about that airport like ours, so maybe it was a fluke.
Just came off the jewel on the 12th. I had a train to catch at 12, and I had pleanty of time...some would argue too much time. I had to call a friend who lived near by to pick me up and entertain me for a few hours. The white and beige tags White for air travel before 12 were off the ship by 9 am! I was way surprised, but the captain is great at getting to ports on time! even early a few times!!! Have a great time on the Jewel, it was fantastic
We just got off the VOS in Miami and had a flight out of Fort Lauderdale. Everyone was at the guest relations desk asking and changing their color tags to leave the ship early. The first group left at 7:30. We left the ship around 9:15 and had a limo pick us up at 9:30. We were at Fort Lauderdale by 10am and flew on Southwest. No problem except the long lines waiting to get off the ship.
Re: Re: Anyone cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale lately?
We got tired of waiting since we were scheduled off the Voyager as one of the last colors.Got in line and got off shipwith no problem .The line and time hits you just as you get off the ship. The worst they can do is send you to the back of the line.Maybe the best thing to do is go on celebrity and build up cruises where you have priority in departing. This is one area that needs their attention as people remember this as a negative.C arnival makes you show your airline ticket so you have trouble beating the system if they want to check.
