Default smoke smell in rooms

We have never been on a cruise before and was surprised that they did not offer non smoking cabins. Has anyone ever had problems with the smell of the cabins?

I'm reluctanct to book a cruise now because we cannot stand the smell of stale smoke in the walls and furniture.

I have been on RCCL twice in the last two years about to sail again in April. I have never smelled any smoke in the cabins. I can't stand the smell of smoke either. Most of the smokers stick to their own little area for smokers. What cruise line are you going on; can only speak for Disney and RCCL?

I've never noticed any smoke smell in any cabins either, you should be fine.

We worry about this same thing everytime but so far after many cruises we have never experienced a smoky or stale room. We always bring our favorite cute room deorderizer that sit on the counter anyway.

I just got off of Westerdam HAL ship. We had a balcony room. I have been on 8 cruises and never had a problems with smoke in rooms. I entered this room and it was the worst smoke odor I have ever encountered. I called and they came up with a Airwick spray that did nothing. A fellow traveler we were with who smokes even said it was disgusting. The pillows, drapes furniture and carpet all stunk beyond belief. I went to the desk and stated that if they did not change majority of these items I was going to remove them myself and bring them down to the front desk personally,. I opened the balcony door for 12 hours and this would not put a dent in the odor. Finally they changed everything and shampooed carpet and it was fine. I do not understand how a balcony room could get this bad. They stated there were no non smoking rooms on board. I am on RCCL Brilliance of the sea in Feb this year and will be calling about smoking rooms because I do not want to encounter this again. Does
RCCL have non smoking rooms? I never thought to ask as this is the first time I had this problem

RCCL does not have "no smoking rooms" fleet wide.

We did not smell cigarette odor in the cabins on the Voyager. I hate that smell too.

We hate the smell of smoke too. If it does happen to you, I would suggest packing a can of Ozium ( at Walmart, etc) It's an air-sanitizer/freshener and has worked great for us when we get a cabin with a smokey odor in it.

Being a smoker I respect others. Since I always book a veranda, that's where I smoke.

I too am a smoker, cigars, but I always smoke on the balcony. I've never smelled smoke in any cabin I've been in.

I panicked when I had this same thought for our Christmas cruise. I thought of it because we were at the beach last summer and were in the stinkiest room ever. While at the beach, we went to the store and a woman suggested a candle made by a company called Trapp. We purchased the Macintosh scent. Let me tell you, it worked GREAT! So for the cruise I bought an air freshener/spray made by Trapp, same scent.

Our cabins did not smell when we boarded.

I've been able to get the Trapp products at Hallmark stores now.

Oh, and Oust spray works great too. We used that in the stinky hotel room, sprayed it into the air conditioner vents!

Good Luck.
