Default Phone calls?

I am going on a cruise to the Western Caribbean in February on the Grandeur of the Sea. My husband and kids will not be there....my grandma is paying for my way.... along with a few other family members. My question is what is the best way to call home to talk to my family? Cost? Thank you for your help. This is my first time on a cruise! -Chantel

Easiest and least expensive...use the internet either on the ship or in port.

Thanks for the response....but I have a 2 year old...I know he would love to talk to me on a phone....dad could read him my letter via the email...but for him it wouldn't really work...also I would love to be able to talk to my kids. (first time leaving the kids)

Wait till you get into port. Buy a prepaid AT&T phonecard (With lots of minutes). This will work in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and so on. But the exchange rate of minutes is close to 10-1. So, if you have a 400 minute phone card, you will be able to talk for about 30 min in Cayman. Do not use your Credit Card. That bill will be more than the cost of the cruise. Take the time, if you must, when you are in port. Don't use the ship phone.
Hope this helps.
P.S. Make sure to find the international access #'s for your phone card. This can be found in many travel magizines, airplane mags, or call AT&T direct and ask. YOU WILL NEED THESE SPECIALS #'S AT 'EACH' OF THE PORTS.

If you have a cell phone try that while in port. I used mine in San Juan last year to call the office and rub it in that is was 85 degrees where I was. It was in the 20's back home. {{grin}}
