Default Hotel in Vancouver, BC

We just booked the Radiance for the 5/1 repositioning cruise out of San Diego. RCI is offering Senior Citizen (55+) and residential rates. We have never been to Vancouver and want to stay 1 night post cruise. Any hotel recommendations and/or transportation advice? We have tentatively booked the Holiday Inn Express on Bridgeport in Richmond, BC. Ideas or must sees for our day there?

Do you know when your flight will be leaving Vancouver the following day?

The hotel in Richmond will be convenient for you if you have an early flight the next day. And it will be more reasonably priced than some in downtown Vancouver.

If you are willing to spend more on the hotel I would suggest staying more in the downtown area, which is close to the cruise ship terminal, and within walking distance to some places of interest. Most of the larger hotels have complimentary shuttles.

Hi CA Cruiser,

We are booked on the same cruise and have been searching for a hotel and air fare back to the east coast . To answer your question, our son is in a hotel room at the Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Downtown this week for $50.00 + taxes and fees - - Total $64.63. He bid on Priceline. com.

On another subject - - - We found air fare from Vancouver to be quite expensive so we looked into flying home from Seattle for a good bit less. We found bus transportation from the pier, or local hotels, for $39.00 each (Sr. Citizens) from quickshuttle.com and got a reservation for May 7 at the Hilton Seattle Airport for a $50.00 bid.

Hope this helps.

Richmond while close to the airport, does not offer anything to see - unless you have an early flight, you may want to rebook a hotel in the downtown core. There are a great many attractions close to where the ship docks (if you are sailing out of Canada Place and not Ballantyne).

Within walking distance of Canada Place: downtown shopping, including Robson Street, Gastown, short cab ride to Stanley Park (fabulous). It will be a bit more expensive but you may get a shuttle to the airport thrown in.
